TOTAL DNA - Pet Edition is an advanced DNA test for pets (dogs & cats) that examines:

How the process works:

1. Order the TOTAL DNA - Pet Edition.
2. We send you the KIT (see package contents below).
3. Collect a DNA sample using a swab from the inside of your pet’s cheek.
4. Send the sample back to us (the return envelope is included).
5. Receive your detailed report by email within 40 to 50 days (the report is in English).

TOTAL DNA - Pet Edition is analyzed by FGI through DNA Service Center (Hong Kong) Co. Ltd, one of the first independent genetic forensic centers (third-party forensic centers) approved by the Ministry of Justice of China.

Technology & databases

The test is based on:

• Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) technology – ensuring the technical specifications and quality standards of the method.
• Reliable pet breed database through the CanineBIM and FelineBIM platforms, which are based on certified dogs and cats from the CFA (Cat Fanciers’ Association).
• Patented genetic algorithm enabling kinship analysis up to 5 generations.

The database covers a large number of pet breeds, allowing the identification of over 160 species/breeds, as well as in-depth analysis of monogenic and polygenic diseases, coat traits, and behavioral characteristics.

A “one-stop” service

The service is designed as a “one-stop service”: all analysis results are derived from a single sample (buccal swab from the animal’s mouth).
