This product is used for in vitro quality detection of COVID-19 antigen in human pharyngeal and nasal swabs. Coronavirus (CoV) belongs to the Nestovirus, Coronaviridae, and is divided into three genera: a, b and c. Genes α, β are only pathogenic to mammals, while genera γ mainly cause infection by birds. CoV is transmitted mainly through direct contact with secretions or through aerosols and droplets. There is also evidence that it can be transmitted through the fecal route. There are 7 types of human coronavirus (HCoV) that cause human respiratory disease: HCoV-229E, HCoV-OC43, SARS-CoV, HCoV-NL63, HCoV-HKU1, MERS-CoV and SARS-CoV2, which are important pathogens for infections. New Coronavirus 2019 (2019-nCoV) can cause COVID-19 (coronavirus disease 2019). Clinical symptoms are systemic fever and fatigue, accompanied by dry cough and shortness of breath, etc., which can quickly develop into severe pneumonia, respiratory failure and acute respiratory failure syndrome, septic shock, multiple organ failure, severe metabolic acid, etc., even life-threatening.

What is coronavirus and how is it transmitted?

COVID-19 is an infectious disease among species caused by a new coronavirus with a helical symmetry nucleocapsid surrounding a positive single-stranded RNA genome. Infection with this virus is zoonotic. Which means it can be transmitted between species. The symptoms, however, vary considerably. In humans, the new coronavirus causes acute respiratory complications that can range from mild to fatal. Symptoms usually include: fever, dry cough, fatigue, sputum production, sore throat and headache. Infected people usually show signs of infection within 2 to 14 days of exposure and will recover without the need for special treatment. The elderly, diabetics, the immunocompromised and patients with cardiovascular disease, for example, are at greater risk of developing serious reactions to the virus, such as pneumonia, kidney failure and even death. The 1960s witnessed the discovery of human coronaviruses. Other species of the same family have emerged since then, such as SARS-CoV in 2003, HCoV NL63 in 2004, HKU1 in 2005, MERSCoV in 2012 and the new SARS-CoV-2 in 2019. According to the European Center for Prevention and Control Disease Control The COVID-19 virus is spread mainly through common substances of human origin that include body fluids, such as mucus and saliva.
