Tricks to see if you're pregnant: How reliable are they & what to choose

The period between ovulation and the expected period is rightly famous as the “two-week wait.”
Anxiety, impatience, hope, and panic — all these emotions crowd your mind and overwhelm you day and night. And the truth is, there’s nothing you can do except wait.
However, when the date of the expected period approaches, the stress and questions become even stronger. And this is where the searching begins: Is there a trick to know if I’m pregnant? How can I find out as quickly as possible?
In general, the short answer is that there is no proven trick to know if you are pregnant. However, there are some ways — some more reliable than others — that can bring you closer to the truth.
Natural pregnancy tests
There’s a lot of talk about pregnancy tests you can do at home with natural ingredients, such as sugar, oil, salt, or baking soda.
The truth is that none of these tests are reliable, and they can hardly work as a trick to find out if you are pregnant.
This is because such tests assume that the urine of a pregnant woman will chemically interact with the natural ingredient if it contains the pregnancy hormone beta-hCG. But for that to happen, the hormone must already be at very high levels, meaning we would already be talking about an advanced pregnancy and not an early trick to know if you are pregnant.
In most cases, in fact, these so-called tests don’t even work at all and fail to show pregnancy, even in women who are confirmed to be in an advanced stage of pregnancy.
Pregnancy symptoms
There are many strong pregnancy symptoms, such as nausea, breast tenderness, cramps, back pain, food cravings, and fatigue.
However, most of these appear after the 6th week of pregnancy, that is, long after the main pregnancy symptom, which is a missed period. After all, a missed period is the most reliable and clear sign of pregnancy.
But what happens if you can’t wait until the missed period — and certainly not until the 2nd month, when most symptoms usually appear?
There is one pregnancy symptom that has three excellent characteristics:
- It appears before the missed period.
- You can’t confuse it with a sign that your period is coming.
- It is clear and leaves no doubt.
What is it? Implantation bleeding.
When the fertilized egg implants in the uterus, it may cause light bleeding — just a few drops of blood — much lighter and milder than a period.
The only problem is that implantation bleeding does not occur in every pregnancy, so if you don’t see blood, it doesn’t necessarily mean you’re not pregnant.
But if you do see it, then it’s definitely a good sign.
The most reliable way to know if you’re pregnant
Beyond natural tests or monitoring symptoms, the most reliable way to confirm pregnancy is by taking a pregnancy test.
Ideally, to be 95–100% sure of the result, you should take the test as close as possible to the expected period — and definitely not earlier than 2–3 days before the missed period.
If you get a positive test, you can repeat it in 1–2 days to see if the line gets darker, which means everything is progressing well.
At Hometest, you will find the most reliable pregnancy tests, digital or midstream. You can also buy strip pregnancy tests, which are the most economical, so you can test multiple times with ease and be sure of the result.
