Sleeping duration can affect a man's fertility, new research suggests.

According to the survey which was conducted among 790 couples, in the cases where the man slept less than six hours or more than nine hours, this was associated with a reduction of fertilization capacity up to 42%.

The ideal sleep duration is reported to be 7-8 hours.

The main reason according to the survey is probably hormonal. Testosterone is the principal fertility hormone for men, which is released in the body during the night.
